Raymonde Folco was elected as the Liberal MP for Laval West in 1997 and re-elected in November 2000.

From 2000 to 2003, she served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources Development. Ms. Folco is Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Immigration and Citizenship. She was also a member of the Sub-Committee on Trade, Trade disputes and International Investment, Co-Chair of the joint Standing Committee on Official Languages, and Chair of the Liberal Caucus on Citizenship and Immigration. She is also Chair of the Canadian Parliamentary Association for population and development.

She was a delegate to the United Nations, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (Washington D.C.) and the Organisation of American States as an observer for elections in the Republic of the Congo, and in the Central African Republic. She also led the Canadian mission to Chiapas, Mexico for the 1998 legislative elections.

She was the only official Canadian observer for the 1999 referendum in West Timor. Ms. Folco served as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Quebec government's CCI (Council of Cultural Communities and Immigration).

She has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and the University of Quebec in Montreal, as well as an M.A. from Concordia University.
